Jeremiah Weaver

Jeremiah Weaver died at 1 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the home of his son John Weaver in South Portland.

He lacked but two months of being ninety-one years old and was a native of SchmuglukillCounty, Pennsylvania, born in 1814. With his parents when quite young, he removed to Montgomery County, Ohio, where he was married. One child, William now sixty-six years old and living in Pennsylvania, was born before he moved to Indiana, settling in Noble Township, when Jay County was a wilderness.

Nine children were born, six of whom survive the father, they being William of Pennsylvania, Isaac of Adams County, Mrs. Lucy Ann Houch of this city, Mrs. Martha Renner of Westchester and John Weaver of South Portland, at whose home he died. The three dead are Edward, George and Martin.  His death came after no long illness and was due mainly to old age.

His funeral services were held in the Lutheran Church of Portland, September 16, 1905, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Elmer Kahl of Bryant and Rev. M. L. Smith of Portland; interment in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
