 Montpelier man killed in mishap

A Blackford County highway employee, who was married to a former Decatur resident, was killed late Thursday afternoon in an accident at the intersection of State Road 3 and County Road 500 North, north of Hartford City. The accident occurred at 3:30 p.m.

The dead man, Ray E. Fear, 23, Oil St., Montpelier, died as a result of multiple head injuries.
State Police reported that Fear’s highway truck pulled into SR 3 and slid into the path of a milk truck driven by Charles S. Driscoll, of Huntington, who was injured in the mishap.
It was Blackford County’s first fatality of the year.

Mr. Fear was married to Judy Uhrich on May 9, 1966. She was a former resident of Decatur.
He was born in Montpelier on April 15, 1948. His mother, Mrs. Rita Harris, his wife, one daughter, Kimberly Jean, one son Charles Ray, both at home; six sisters and five brothers survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Walker Funeral Home at Montpelier, with Rev. Lynford Orr officiating. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery at Pennville. Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
