Mary Ellen Welling

   Mary Ellen Welling, age 89, of Bryant, IN, died on December 14, 2018, at Briarwood Village, Coldwater, Ohio.
   She was born October 3, 1929, in Decatur, IN, to the late Herman and Amelia (Ulman) Lengerich. On June 24, 1950, she married the late Marcel Welling, who died July 9, 2012.
   Surviving are nine children, Marjorie Sanders of Bluffton, IN, Bob (Rose) Welling of Bryant, Dave (Colleen) Welling of Portland, Cathy (Mike) Bettinger of Coldwater, Paul (Mary) Welling of St. Anthony, Geri (Mark) Mestemaker of Coldwater, Judy (Roger) Wellman of Bryant, JoAnne (Greg) Alig of St. Anthony, Linda (Kevin) Wellman of Decatur; 41 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; her siblings, Theodore Lengerich of Berne, Ruth Wilder of Decatur, Ed (Susie) Lengerich of Elkhart, IN, Mike (Pat) Lengerich of Decatur, Joe (Jane) Lengerich of Decatur; sisters-in-law, Peggy Lengerich of Decatur, Jan Lengerich of Decatur, Jane Lengerich of Decatur, Janet Lengerich of Berne; and in-law, Dick Friedrich of Ft. Wayne, IN.
   Preceding her in death are son-in-law, Larry Sanders; granddaughter, Marie Welling; three infant siblings, Jim, Marjorie and Jean Lengerich; five brothers, Bill, Carl, Dan, John and Tony Lengerich; brother-in-law, Joe Wilder; in-laws, Sr. Alfrieda Welling OP; Hilbert (Donna) Welling, Mary (Elbert) Kemper, Adelaide (Garner) Wilkinson, and Clara Friedrich.
Mary Ellen was a 1947 graduate of Decatur Catholic High School. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bryant, IN, the church's Altar Rosary Sodality, the Catholic Ladies of Columbia and taught religious education for many years. She was also a member of the Bryant Senior Citizens.
Mary Ellen enjoyed flower gardening and was known for decorating cakes for many weddings and other occasions. Family and friends were very important to her and she loved spending time with them.
   A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bryant, with Fr. Kenneth Alt officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Monday and 9:00 am-9:45 am Tuesday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
