Hines Funeral at Portland Today

Services were held this afternoon at the Baird Funeral Home in Portland for Ralph G. Hines, 57, Jay County State Representative since 1957. Rev. Harold Anderson officiated and burial was in Green Park Cemetery.

Rep. Hines died in his home late Sunday. Death was unexpected and was attributed to a heart attack. Shortly before his death Mr. Hines had completed work on an address scheduled to have been delivered Tuesday noon at a luncheon of the Women’s Press Club of Indiana in Indianapolis.

He was president of the Portland Theater-Realty Company, owner of the Hines, Princess and Beacon Drive-in theater properties in Portland.

Mr. Hines was a member of the Masonic, Elks, Moose and Eagles Lodges, and the Zion Lutheran Church. He was prominent in both the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans, holding offices in each group.
