Lewis A. Heffner, age 90, passed away Tuesday July 21, 2020 at his residence
in Noblesville. Lewis and his wife Vera were longtime Portland residents. He
was born in Lafayette, Indiana on June 12, 1930 the son of Arol and Dorthea
(McFarland) Heffner. He was married on May 27, 1961 to Vera G. Gisela who
survives. Lew worked at Teledyne Portland Forge as a sles manager, Vice
President of Sales and Vice President over thirty eight years. He was a 1948
graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and 1952 graduate Purdue
University. He was a 1st Lieutenant with the US Army during the Korean
Conflict. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Portland Lions
Club, Portland Elks Lodge, Museum of the Soldier and American Legion Post
#211.
Surviving are his wife Vera, three daughters Carolyn Tilford
(husband Trent) of Bloomington, IN., Sandra Aich (husband James) of Corydon,
IN and Jessica Chapala (husband Matthew) of Carmel, IN, one brother Thomas
Heffner (wife Sonya) of Marysville, Ohio, Seven grandchildren and six great
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday July 27, 2020 at 2:00
PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Benjamin Aich presiding. Burial
will follow with military graveside honors in the Green Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the services. Memorials can
be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, Portland Lions Club or Museum of
the Soldier.
