Brother of Berne resident dies
Nigel C. Timmons,
60, of route 4, Portland, brother of Gerald Timmons, Berne, died early
Saturday at the Jay county hospital following an extended illness. He had
been employed at Sheller-Globe in Portland for the past 39 years.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Baird-Freeman funeral
home in Portland, with Rev. Tom Ford officiating. Burial was in the Green
Park cemetery.
Mr. Timmons was born April 3, 1913, in Jay county, the
son of Ross and Cora Harmon-Timmons. On May 7, 1948, he was married to
Dorothy Davidson, who survives.
Other survivors include one son, Nick
Timmons, Atlanta, Ga.; four daughters, Mrs. David (Cheryl) Bubp,[sic], Fort
Recovery, O.; Mrs. Susie Smith, Portland; Mrs. Richard (Cindy) Gaskill,
Portland; and Sandy Timmons, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Arbutus Rarick and
Mrs. James Stephenson, both of Portland; three brothers, Gerald Timmons of
Berne; Virgil Timmons and Ross Timmons, both of Portland, and 4
grandchildren.
Mr. Timmons was a member of the Trinity United
Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Moose and Eagles Lodges. He
was a veteran of World War II.
