C.H. Pogue, 53, buried in Portland
The father of William Pogue of Decatur, Charles Harold Pogue, 53, of Portland, former street commissioner of that city, died Monday morning at the Veterans hospital in Indianapolis after an extended illness.
Services were held for him at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland, the Rev. Lavene Brosher officiating. Burial was in Green Park cemetery.
For the past two years, he had operated the Civil Defense Unit in Portland and was a lieutenant in the Jay County Police Reserves. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Portland American Legion Post 211.
Born Oct. 8, 1920 at Saratoga, he was the son of Harl and Maude (Ables) Pogue. He was married in June, 1944 to Delee Osenbaugh, who survives along with three sons, Charles Pogue Jr. and David Pogue, Portland, and William Pogue, Decatur, one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Lois) Watson, Portland; three brothers, Glen and Ralph Pogue, Portland, and jay Pogue, Runnemeade, N.M.; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Case, Pennville; Mrs. Daniel Braucher, Lagrange, Ill., and Mrs. Darrell McCord, Winchester, and seven grandchildren.
