Robert C. McGriff, 67, of Port Charlotte, Fla., husband
of former Decatur resident Helen Gerber McGriff, a retired division sales
manager for Central Soya, Fort Wayne, died during surgery Thursday morning
at St. Joseph’s hospital, Port Charlotte.
He was a
member of the First Presbyterian Church at Port Charlotte, the Portland Elks
Lodge, a past master of Jay Lodge 87, and a member of Scottish Rite and
Mizpah Shrine, both of Fort Wayne.
Born in Portland on
March 12, 1908, he was the son of Otis and Margaret Miley-McGriff, and was
married to the former Helen Gerber of Decatur, who is the sister of former
Decatur mayor Carl D. Gerber. Mr. McGriff formerly resided I Portland and
Decatur.
Mr. and Mrs. McGriff have resided in Florida
about two years.
Survivors include the wife; one
daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Janet Sue) Lauderman of Bloomington, Ill. And three
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.
Monday at the Baird-Freeman funeral home, Portland, with Rev. Kent Keller
officiating. Burial will be in the Green Park cemetery, Portland. Friends
may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Saturday.
