Mrs. Jennie Irene
Gardner, 76, widow of Charles Gardner, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday at the Decatur
Community Care Center, where she had resided since 1974.
Mrs.
Gardner, a former agent at the Geneva train depot, was a lifelong resident
of Adams County and a member of the Decatur United Brethren Church.
Born Dec. 8, 1898 at Geneva, she was the daughter of James and Eliza
Walker-Christman, and was married in Indianapolis in April of 1928 to
Charles Gardner, who died in 1970.
Surviving are a son, James of
Potomac, Maryland; one brother James Arthur Christman of Pennville. Two
brothers are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m.
Friday at Downing Funeral Home, Geneva, with Rev. Sylvester C. Martin
officiating. Burial will be in Green Park Cemetery, Portland. Friends may
call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.
