Anna Mae Brown age 96, of Portland passed away Thursday morning December
5, 2019 in the IU Jay County Hospital.
She was born in Knott County,
Kentucky on May 28, 1923 the daughter of Nicodemas and Bertha (Mullins)
Combs. She was raised by her foster parents Babelon “Babe” and Rosalie
Sidwell in Cartwright, Kentucky.
She was married October 10, 1936 to
Earnest H. Brown Sr. and he died on October 20, 1989.
She was retired
from Jay Garment and also worked at Ballistran and CTS in Berne. She was a
member of Do A Lot Home Economics Club, Pennville Kitchen Kookies, Widow to
Widow Club, Kitchenette Music Breakfast Club and Red Hat Club.
Surviving are one daughter Helen Rouch (husband Jack) of Portland and
Fifteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons William C.
Brown (wife Joada Nix), Earnest H. Brown Jr. (wife Frances) and Michael
Brown (wife Sharon) and two dadughters Anna Marie Drew and Ida Lotz (husband
Milton).
Funeral services will be Saturday December 14, 2019 at 11:00
AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Hugh Kelly presiding.
Burial will be in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from
10:00 – 11:00 AM. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Heart Fund, Jay
County Cancer Society or Parkinson's Foundation
