Fatal Sunday To Lester Stuckey
Services At Geneva Wednesday For Former Businessman
Lester W.
Stuckey, 61, a resident of Geneva for many years, died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday
in a Richmond hospital following an illness of about six years. His
condition became quite serious in mid-August and he was critically ill since
last Friday. Death was attributed to double pneumonia and complications.
A Geneva business man for many years, Mr. Stuckey was widely known. He
was a former president and manager of the Eastern Indiana Oil and Supply
Company of Geneva. He joined this firm in 1929 and remained with the company
until ill health forced him to quit. He formerly owned an Eastern Indiana
Oil and Supply Company station in Berne. It was located on the site where
the Berne-French School now stands. Mr. Stuckey had been in the oil business
since early manhood.
Born near Geneva, June 6, 1897, Mr. Stuckey was
the son of Solomon and Josephine Luginbill Stuckey. He was married to Vada
Kelly, Dec. 6, 1917.
Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs.
Stanley Klopfenstein (missing) mother, Mrs. Josephine Stuckey, Geneva, and
four grandchildren. Two children preceded in death in infancy and a brother,
Clarence and a sister, Mrs. Leona Whiteman, are deceased.
Mr. Stuckey
was active for many years in business, church and community projects. He
served as a member of the board of trustees of the Adams Count Memorial
Hospital for two terms. He was a member of the Methodist Church and Masonic
Lodge at Geneva, Scottish Rite, Fort Wayne and Adams County Shrine Club.
The body has been returned to the Hardy & Hardy Funeral Home in Geneva where
friends may call after 6 p.m. today. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m.
Wednesday in the funeral home, the Rev. Roger Lautzenhiser, pastor of the
Calvary Methodist church in Elkhart, formerly of Geneva, officiating. Burial
will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery west of Bryant.
