Robert A. Garner, 68, of Bluffton, IN, passed away at his home on May 17,
2020 at 5:11AM. He was born on December 30, 1951 in Richmond, IN to the late
Robert F. Garner & Dorothy (Lemaux) Skinner. He was a 1970 graduate of Jay
County High School. After high school, he served in the United States Navy
from 1971-1975 during the Vietnam War. On July 1, 1988 Robert married
Elizabeth “Betty” Amstutz in the Mount Carmel Church in Adams County. Robert
was the owner and operator of Skyview Satellite Systems in Berne and a
member of the Berne American Legion.
Loving survivors include his
wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Amstutz Garner, Bluffton, Daughters, Carla L. &
Corrine R. Garner, both of Portland, Son, Christopher M. Garner, Poneto,
step-dad, Jack Skinner, Kendalville, step brother, Donald (Mel) Skinner,
Kendalville, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 niece, several
nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
parents, son, Jarad Garner and brother, William Garner.
Family and
friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home
100 N. Washington St. Geneva, IN, on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 from 4-8PM. A
service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held at Downing & Glancy Funeral
Home on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 1PM with Pastor Phil Jellison officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in rural Jay County with
military rites conducted by the United States Navy. In protecting the
families we serve, due to Covid-19, we are asking all guests to practice
social distancing while in the funeral home.
