R. Dale Whetstone, 78, died at 6:05 p.m. Friday [5/24/1996] in Adams County Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 27, 1918 in Adams County to Benjamin and Fern Daugherty Whetsone and married Pearl Kizer on April 8, 1939. She survives.
He retired in February 1982 from Corning Glass Co. of Bluffton, Indiana, and was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge 993, and Moose Lodge 1311, all of Decatur, Indiana.
He is also survived by a son, Homer O., "Rusty" Whetstone, a daughter, Marceda I. Lybarger, a brother Olen Whetson, five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter. A son, Harold O. Whetsone, is deceased.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mark's United Methodist
Church, with burial in Gravel Hill Cemetery, near Bryant. Visiting hours are
4-8 p.m. Monday in Haggard and Armes Funeral Home, Decatur, and 9-10 a.m.
Tuesday in the church. Preferred memorials are to the church or the Adams
County Heart Club.
