Father of city resident dies
Benjamin H.
Whetsone, 74, of route 1, Bryant, father of R. Dale Whetstone of Decatur,
died suddenly at 12:05 p.m. Sunday at this home.
Mr. Whetstone was a
farmer and a member of the Jay county Farm Bureau. He was a lifelong
resident of Jay county.
He was born in Jay county on Feb. 21, 1898,
the son of Wert and Martha Young-Whetstone, and was married to Fern Haffner
on June 12, 1917.
Surviving are the wife; two children, R. Dale of
Decatur and Harold O. of Bryant; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Uptygraft of
Bryant; Mrs. Thelma Wiese of Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Dorothy Lavengood of
Albany; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Two sisters
preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.
Tuesday at the Winteregg-Linn funeral home, with Rev. Lee Rose officiating.
Burial will be in the Gravel Hill cemetery, Bryant. Friends may call at the
funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
