Mother of Monroe resident dies today
Mrs. Bessie
Gladys Peters, 81, of Portland, mother of Gerald Tullis of Monroe, died at
10:30 a.m. this morning at the Portland nursing home after an extended
illness. She was formerly employed at the Jay county hospital.
She
was born in Jay county on Feb. 17, 1891, the daughter of G.S. and Mary
Kraner-Pyle. She was married to Harve Tullis in March of 1910 and he died in
May of 1932. She later married George Peters in December of 1953 and he
preceded her in death in May of 1959.
Surviving are one son, Gerald
Tullis of Monroe; one daughter, Mrs. Mary I. Murnan of Jacksonville, Fla.;
one brother, Wilmer Pyle of Geneva; four grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m.
at the Williamson & Spencer funeral home, Portland, with Rev. Donald Wilks
officiating. Burial will be in the Gravel Hill cemetery, located west of
Bryant. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday.
