Jay county records 1st traffic fatality

Jay county marked up its firs traffic fatality of 1972, Tuesday morning, when Kenneth R. Teeple, 54, of Bryant route 1, died at Parkview memorial hospital, Fort Wayne, of injuries received in a two-car collision the preceding day.

Mr. Teeple, a Jay county farmer, had been a foreman at CTS of Berne, Inc., for the past seven years.

Two other persons were injured in the crash…..
Teeple’s son, Joseph, 23, driver of the Teeple car, is hospitalized at the Jay county hospital at Portland…..

The accident victim was born in Adams county Feb. 25, 1917, a son of Elmer Ray and May Ford-Teeple.
Surviving are his wife, the former Bernice Hough; two sons, James Teeple of Bryant route 1, and Joseph Teeple, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Teeple of Bryant route 1; two brothers, John Teeple of Fort Wayne, and Robert Teeple of Bryant; and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Baird-Freeman funeral home in Portland, with Rev. Kenneth Whitescarver officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of the services.
