Lamar Shoemaker

   Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Williamson-Spencer Funeral Home, Portland, for Lamar Shoemaker, 61, principal of General Shanks Elementary School, Portland. He was a native of Hartford township in Adams County.

      Rev. Tom Ford Will officiate at the service and burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today.

   He had been in failing health for two months and died in Clinic Hospital, Bluffton, Tuesday morning.
Mr. Shoemaker had been a teacher and administrator in Jay County school system for 35 years. He was a graduate of Hartford high School and Ball State University.

   He was born on Oct. 21, 1913, a son of Oliver and Ada Treece-Shoemaker, and was united in marriage to Maxine Wright on August 5, 1938.

   Survivors include the wife; son, Ronald L., at home and a brother, Theron Shoemaker, Dayton, O.

   Mr. Shoemaker was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Portland, VFW and DAV, and was a veteran of World War II.
