James "Whitey" Seyler, 85, of Bryant, IN, passed away at 8:25 PM on
Friday, July 19, 2019 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN.
He was born on Sunday, February 18, 1934, in Randolph Co., IN. He married
Margaret J. "Maggie" (Schaefer) Seyler on Saturday, July 30, 1955 in
Randolph County, IN; she preceded him in death on August 23, 2008. James
"Whitey" attended Ridgeville Schools. He worked for Berne Furniture for 42
years. He was a member of the Geneva VFW # 6751, Hartford City Amvets,
Portland Moose, and the Ridgeville American Legion. He enjoyed golfing and
hunting.
He will be sadly missed by his Son - Bruce Seyler, Portland,
IN, Daughter - Brenda Sroufe, Portland, IN, Daughter - Belinda "Tink" (Don)
Roush, Bryant, IN, Brother - Mike Seyler, Union City, IN, 14 Grandchildren,
several Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild.
He was
preceded in death by his Father - Charles Seyler, Mother - Leah (Williams)
Seyler, Wife - Margaret J. "Maggie" (Schaefer) Seyler, Sister - Judy Doss,
Brother - Charles Seyler, Sister - Edna Barr, Brother - Jack Seyler, Sister
- Weltha Brandt, Sister - June Roderick, Sister - Shirley Seyler, Sister -
Jean Brown, Sister - Maxine Prescott, and Sister - Betty Moran.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy
Funeral Home 100 N Washington Street Geneva on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from
2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. There will also be calling
from noon until services on Wednesday, July 24, 2019.
A service to
celebrate his life will be at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on
Wednesday, July 24, 2019 with Chaplin Michael Wenger officiating. Interment
will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in Portland.
