James Jay Butcher dies at Coldwater
James Jay
Butcher, 55, of route 1, Coldwater, O., husband of Bonnie Armstrong Butcher,
a former resident of Geneva, died of cancer at 12:30 a.m. Monday at
Community hospital, Coldwater.
He was born March 22, 1918 in Bryant,
Ind., the son of Myrtle (Crabill) Butcher, of Bryant, and the late Homer
Butcher. He married Bonnie Armstrong Jan. 20, 1940 in Geneva, and she
survives with one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Butcher of
Hollywood, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Larry (Joy)
DeBoy of Cleveland, O.; four grandchildren, David, Brenda, Kathy and Julie;
six brothers, Darwin, Joe, Max, and Jack, all of Bryant; and homer, Jr. and
David, both of Portland; five sisters, Mrs. Burdell (Iva) Brotherson,
Bryant; Mrs. Garth (Lillah) Shepheard, Winchester, Mrs. Arthur (Frances)
Goss, Bryant; Mrs. Ted (Katie) Wood, Whiteland; and Mrs. Eugene (Lois)
Moore, Dunkirk.’
Mr. Butcher had been a 25-years employee of Avco New
Ida, Coldwater, a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Coldwater
American Legion, V.F. W., and Eagles Lodge.
Funeral services will be
held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp’s funeral home, Coldwater, with Rev.
Terry Powell officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Hill, Bryant.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today and after noon
Wednesday.
