Native of county dies at hospital
Mrs. Viola M. Schlechty, 86, an
Adams county native, died Monday afternoon at the Bluffton Clinic hospital
following an extended illness.
Born Sept. 9, 1884 in Adams county,
she was the daughter of Shepherd and Mary Jane (Siberty) Daugherty. William
Schlechty, her husband, preceded her in death in 1927.
Surviving are
two daughters, Miss Cecile Schlechty and Mrs. Burnis DeHoff, Bluffton; one
step-daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Woodruff of Flint, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Sanger
Huey, Bryant; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Schlechty, also a former resident of
Pennville and Portland was a member of the Pennville Rebekah lodge, the
Brookville Methodist church and Women’s Auxiliary of Trainmen.
Friends may call at the Freeman funeral home in Portland until time of
funeral services at the home at 10 a.m. Friday. Treva VanSkyrock will
officiate and burial will be in Daugherty cemetery, Bryant.
