Funeral services for Paul M. Butcher, 78, of 655 West
Van Buren St., Berne, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Yager funeral
home, Rev. Howard Rees officiating. Burial will be in the Daughtery cemetery
located near New Corydon.
Mr. Butcher, a lifelong
resident of Adams county, was the father of Kenneth Butcher of Decatur.
The county resident died at 7:15 p.m. Monday at the Adam s
county Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Butcher, a retired farmer,
had been employed at Amishville for several years.
Born
in Jefferson township on Jan. 24, 1897, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs.
Elbridge Butcher, and was married to Eloise Reef, who died June 1, 1971.
Mr. Butcher drove a school bus in Jefferson township for
many years and also was employed at the Berne branch of the Adams County
Farm Bureau.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth P.
Butcher of Decatur, and Richard E. Butcher of Wilmington, O.; four
daughters, Mrs. Franklin (Gladine) Poindexter of Shawano, Wisconsin; Mrs.
Norbert (Martha) Kost of Cleveland, O.; Mrs. Bill (Mary) Marsh of Carson
City, Nevada, and Mrs. Jean Norman of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three brothers,
Gala Butcher, of Rockford, O.; Walter Butcher of Decatur, and Clell Butcher
of Triadelphia, West Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Lewis (Jessie) Wendel of
Chattanooga, O.; Mrs. Leota Bebout of Van Wert, O.; Mrs. Adam (Ruth) Reef of
Decatur; 23 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home today.
