Lawrence V. Cook, age 89, of Redkey passed away Saturday June 5, 2021 in
the IU Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was born in Redkey on January
29, 1932 the son of Lawrence A. and Rosa M. (Vincent) Cook. Lawrence married
Betty Staton on June 29, 1951 and she passed away on October 5, 2018.
Lawrence retired from Teledyne Portland Forge in 1994 and was a member of
Fellowship Baptist Church, Redkey Lions Club and Local 1595 Machinist Union.
He was a 1951 Gov. IP Gray graduate and enjoyed gardening, hunting,
country music, western movies and his dog Buddy.
Surviving are two
sons Rodger Cook (wife Cindy) of Redkey and David Cook of Upland, one
daughter Jeanne Pilotte (husband Steve) of Groton, Conn., one brother Jack
Cook of Midland, MI., two sisters Mary Cook of Hartford City and Faye
Baldridge of Winchester, Eight grandchildren, Arlena, Melissa, Michelle,
Sarah, Jessica, Joshua, Elizabeth and Lawrence, two step-grandchildren and
eighteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Harry,
Dick and George and one sister Barbara Gray.
Funeral services will be
Thursday June 10, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Fellowship Baptist Church with
Pastor Hugh Kelly presiding. Burial will follow in the Claycomb Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 – 1:00 PM. Following the services, a
time for fellowship and a meal will be held in the church.
