Nancy E. Valentine, age 72, a resident of Portland, passed away on
Monday, June 26, 2017 at Jay County Hospital in Portland.
Nancy was
born on July 11, 1944, in Portland, the daughter of Everett and Bertha
(Benn) Hummer. She graduated from Portland High School in 1962. Nancy served
in several offices for the national, state and local Grange. She then
retired from the US Postal Service in 1998. She was a member of the Portland
Grange, secretary of several civic organizations, and a substitute teacher
for Jay and Blackford school corporations. Nancy married John Valentine on
March 30, 1962.

Stephanie Hastings – Throckmorton (husband
Bill) – Indianapolis, Indiana
1 Son: Gary Valentine (wife Anne) –
Carmel, Indiana
Grandchildren: Josh Stultz (wife Monica), Jordan
Stultz, Georgia Hasting, Abigail Valentine, and Elizabeth Valentine
Great Grandson: Caleb Stultz
She was preceded in death by her parents
and 1 brother.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m.
at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral service will
follow at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Pastor Mitch Corwin will
officiate the service. Private graveside service will be Thursday at Center
Cemetery, West of Portland.
Memorials may be directed towards
Portland Grange or the Church of your choice in care of the funeral home.
