Gene Geesaman, age 88 a resident of rural Jay County passed away
Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Village Green Health Campus in Greenville,
Ohio. He raised chickens and farmed in Bearcreek Twp. Jay County for many
years. He graduated from Redkey High School and was an Army veteran serving
in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Portland American Legion Post
211 and the VFW of Geneva. Gene was an avid fan of Jay County High School
boys and girls basketball teams.
Gene Geesaman was born February 22,
1932 in Dunkirk, Indiana the son of Fred and Mae Violet (Hudson) Geesaman.
He was married on September 26, 1952 to Vivian “Bonnie” Reading. She passed
away on February 7, 2015.

3 Daughters-
Dorcas Fields (husband-Dean), Portland, Indiana, Ghlee Thornton
(husband-Steve), Ansonia, Ohio, and Delee Rathbun (husband-Tony), Portland,
Indiana
Brother- Glen Geesaman, Pennville, Indiana
Sister-
Barbara Lea (husband-Donn), Dunkirk, Indiana
5 Grandchildren, 4 Great
Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandson
He was preceded in death by his
wife and a son, Dennis Gene Geesaman.
Visitation for Gene Geesaman
will be held from 12:00pm-2:00pm on Monday in the Williamson-Spencer and
Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm at
the funeral home. Pastor Gil Alicia will officiate the service and burial
will follow in the Center Cemetery, west of Portland. Portland American
Legion Post 211 will be in charge of military rites at the cemetery.
Memorial donation may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
