BLUFFTON MAN DIES AT AGE OF 71 YEARS
Henry Hiester Succumbs to Stroke of ApoplexyBLUFFTON, Ind. -May 25 -1919
Henry Hiester, aged seventy-one years, died at 3:15 o'clock this morning, at his residence, on South Main Street, this city, after having lain helpless, from apoplexy since 6 o'clock Friday evening. He was a native of Boundary, Jay county, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Hiester, and was a resident of that county most of his life until he came to this city eighteen years ago, from Pennville, Ind. He was in the furniture business in this city continuously from 1901 until about two years ago. He served a term of four years as city councilman, and at his death was a deputy assessor in Harrison township.
Surviving are the widow and seven children, namely: Jesse J. Hieser,
Bluffton; Charles N. Hiester, Bremen, Ind.; George E. Hiester, North
Manchester, O.; O. Everett Hiester, Fort Wayne; Frank B. Hiester, Auburn,
Wash.; Mrs. Charles C. Baumgartner, St. Johns, Mich.; and Mrs. J. P. Alden,
Columbus, O. All of the children reached his bedside before his death except
the one son, Frank, of Washington state, who is on his wayeast.
The
funeral will not be held until Thursday forenoon at 10 o'clock, to give the
son coming from the west time to reach Bluffton. Funeral services will be
held at the Reformed church, here, and burial will be at Boundary, Jay
county.
