Daniel Wikel, one of the oldest residents of this county died at four
o’clock Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Henizer,
five miles south of this city.
He was born in Virginia on August 15,
1822 and at his death was 83 years and 10 days. He moved to this county
about 1840 and since then has made his home in Jefferson Township.
He
is the father of Mrs. John Henizer and Mrs. Susanna Henizer of Jefferson
Township, John Wikel of Montpelier and George Wikel of Traverse City,
Michigan.
The funeral cortege left the late residence at one Sunday
afternoon, going to the Bost Cemetery, where the remains were interred. No
funeral services were held.
