Seymour Daily Tribune January 7, 2002 Mildred I. Strickland Mildred I. Strickland, 89, North Vernon, died at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital, North Vernon, after an extended illness. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church in North Vernon. Born May 22, 1912, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was a daughter of Henry P. and Ida Mae Stottman Gaines. On Oct. 24, 1931, in Vernon, she married Paul Franklin Strickland, who died May 19, 1985. Survivors include a son, Paul Richard Strickland, Greer’s Ferry, Ark.; five daughters, Alice Blowers, Anderson, Charlotte Trapp, Judy Ray and Susan Miller, all of North Vernon, and Wanda Blair, Brentwood, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Perryman; a brother, Ralph Gaines; and an infant son, Robert Gene Strickland. The Rev. Ron Bridgewater was to conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. today at Dove-Sharp and Rudicel Funeral Home, North Vernon. Burial was to be in Hillcrest Cemetery, North Vernon.
