Seymour Tribune - August 22, 2009 Paul Gene Phillips 1942 - 2009 Paul Gene Phillips, 67, Spokane, Wash., passed away at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at the Veterans Hospital in Spokane. Mr. Phillips served in the Air Force for 12 years and was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, and he will be sorely missed. Born Jan. 13, 1942, in Jackson County, he was the son of Paul D. Phillips and Delores Z. Allman Phillips, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Susan J. Hashagen on July 15, 1978, and she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Douglas Joseph Phillips and Jacob Phillips, both of Spokane; two daughters, Amanda Smothers, Spokane, and Lovisa Rice, Brownstown; two brothers, Robert D. Phillips, Seymour, and Johnny C. Phillips, Franklin; three sisters, Eula Mae Hauck, Indianapolis, and Jerri Hall and Mrs. Jerry (Linda) Murphy, both of Medora; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Lonny Dean Phillips, on Feb. 13, 1974. Military funeral services were conducted Aug. 15, 2009, in Spokane.
