Seymour Daily Tribune Mildred Malinda Otte November 4, 2006 Dec. 17, 1924 - Nov. 2, 2006 Mildred Malinda Otte, 81, died at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. Mrs. Otte graduated from Shields High School with honors. She was a clerical bookkeeper for several area businesses. She and her husband opened and operated the Seymour Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Store for nine years. She was a charter member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She was a hard worker and enjoyed her family, cooking, quilting and serving others. Born Dec. 17, 1924, in Seymour, she was a daughter of Otto and Rosine Pottschmidt Rittman, both of whom preceded her in death. On Jan. 28, 1945, in Atlanta, she married Arnold Leroy Otte, who survives. In addition to her husband of 61 years, survivors include a son, Russell Otte, Ashland, Ore.; a daughter, Janice (Mike) Read, Seymour; three grandchildren, Erin (James) Richards, Bremerton, Wash., Joyce Otte, New York, and Jessica Read, Seymour; and two sisters, Gladys (Bill) Pollert and Elsie Kiewett, both of Seymour. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Rose Kelly Otte. The Rev. Allan Wolka and the Rev. Darrel Geitz will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Seymour. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lutheran Community Home and from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Lutheran Community Home, Zion Lutheran School or the donor's choice. Arrangements are being handled by Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour.
