Seymour Tribune Minnie A. Seegers Tindell Mettert 1917 - 2008 Minnie A. Seegers Tindell Mettert, 91, Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown, went home to heaven at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008. Mrs. Mettert was a member of First Church of the Nazarene for over 50 years and was secretary and treasurer of the Missionary Society for several years. She enjoyed sewing, reading and making quilts. She made most of her family at least one quilt. She also loved to fix lunch for her family on Saturdays and was a wonderful cook. Minnie faced many health struggles over the last years of her life with incredible strength and courage. She never lost her sense of humor or her faith in God. She set a wonderful example to all who knew her. She's now at home with Jesus and in perfect health and free of pain. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. During World War II, she and her husband, Roy, managed the Jay C Stores in Columbus and Seymour. She would later work at the Reliance Shirt Factory from where she retired in 1976, after 36 years of service.?She lived most of her life in Seymour and Jennings County. Born in Jennings County, on Jan. 2, 1917, she was the daughter of August and Rebecca Grove Seegers, both of whom preceded her in death. On Aug. 22, 1931, in Louisville, she married Roy Tindell, and after 41 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on June 25, 1972. They had four children together and raised two children whose parents had died. In April 1975, she married George Mettert. They were able to do a lot of traveling throughout the United States and Canada. Mr. Mettert passed away in May of 1995. Survivors include her daughters, Eva Reveal and Betty (Jack) Dehaven; sons, Roy (Karen) Tindell, August (Sandy) Tindell and Lawrence Browning; sister, Maggie Rigsby; 20 grandchildren; 39 great- grandchildren; 19 great- great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Emma Jane Maschino; son-in-law, Donald Maschino; brothers, Garnet Seegers, Robert Seegers and Jay Seegers; sisters, Kathryn Taylor, Betty Baldwin, Mildred Pugh and Marilyn Peppers; and son-in-law, Jack Reveal. The Rev. Steve Barrett will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
