Seymour Tribune Neva Jean (Chanley) McCallister 1927 - 2008 Neva Jean McCallister, 81, Scottsburg, passed away at 4:51 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at The Waters of Seymour. Mrs. McCallister was a homemaker and a member of Glenlawn Apostolic Church in Seymour. Born May 9, 1927, in Birdseye, she was the daughter of James A. Chanley and Lelia Clair Chanley, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Philip J. McCallister, who preceded her in death Feb. 26, 2006. Survivors include sons, James P. McCallister, Indianapolis, Kenneth E. McCallister, Seymour, and David W. McCallister, Sachse, Texas; daughter, Carol A. Sandlin, Scottsburg; sisters, Lola May Jones, Scottsburg, and Irene Long, New Albany; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Eugene Chanley, and a sister, Helen Courtney. Pastor William H. Roberts will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home, Scottsburg. Burial will take place at Barnes Community Cemetery, Nabb. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
