Seymour Tribune Catherine Virginia (High) Mains 1922 - 2008 Catherine Virginia Mains, 86, Crothersville, passed away at 4:39 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She moved to Jackson County in 1947 and was a retired employee of the former U.S. Shoe Corp., working for 33 years repairing shoes. Born Feb. 25, 1922, in Bracken County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Frank and Icie Fryman High. She was the widow of World War II Navy veteran Joseph Mains, whom she married in Augusta, Ky., in 1940. He preceded her in death Dec. 3, 1963. She is survived by two sons, David (Glenna) Mains, Scottsburg, and Gary (Sharon) Mains, Jeffersontown, Ky.; six grandchildren, Amie Cottingham, Crothersville, Kimberly Mains, Crothersville, Chris Mains, Crothersville, Heather Smith, Crothersville, Shane Mains, Jeffersontown, Ky., and Daniel Mains, Jeffersontown, Ky., seven great-grandchildren, Bryce Cottingham, Natalie Smith, Micah Mains, Abby Mains, Tyson Mains, Emma Mains and Connor Mains; and a sister, Wilma Jones, Foster, Ky. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Woodrow, Henry, Arthur, Carlous and Chuck, and three sisters, Gladys Howard, Naomi Ruff and Mary England. The Rev. Ralph Hillenburg and the Rev. Roger Smith will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at Adams Funeral Home in Crothersville. Roger High will conduct graveside services at Mount Zion Cemetery near Augusta, Ky., at 2 p.m. Saturday. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Adams Funeral Home.
