Seymour Tribune - May 29, 2007 Ava Merl Benter Oct. 26, 1919 – May 28, 2007 Ava Merl Benter, 87, Brownstown, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Monday, May 28, 2007, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. Mrs. Benter was a homemaker and much-loved daughter, sister, wife and mother. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandsons. She was a lifelong member of Brownstown United Methodist Church and also attended Cornerstone Community Church, Seymour. Born Oct. 26, 1919, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Orville and Lottie Berry Lubker. On June 29, 1946, she married Irving M. Benter, who preceded her in death April 20, 1977. Survivors include two children, Richard I. (Jennifer) Benter, Brownstown, and Linda K. (David) Wienhorst, Seymour; two brothers: Orville (Laura Rose) Lubker Jr., Brownstown, and John William Lubker, Seymour; three grandchildren, Justin C. Benter, Lora R. (Jeremy) Myers and Heather N. (Kyle) Lutes; three step-grandchildren, Andrew, Desiree and Cortney; and three great-grandsons, Peyton and Dylan Meyers and Waylon Lutes. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert Lubker, Howard Lubker, Blanche Lubker and Billie Jane Lubker. Jack Shake will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hoosier Christian Village Auxiliary.
