Seymour Daily Tribune John Bailey August 18, 2006 John Bailey, 73, Seymour, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at Hospice of South Central Indiana. Mr. Bailey served 12 and a half years in the U.S. Air Force. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He also served as a presidential guard for President Truman and President Eisenhower while in the Air Force. Mr. Bailey attended Genesseo College in New York for two years and was a member of Seymour Community Church and the Amvets Post #7. He enjoyed playing golf, gardening and playing basketball in his younger years. Born Jan. 14, 1933, in Letcher, Ky., he was the son of Frank and Laura Johnson Bailey. He married Rose M. Bailey, and she survives in Seymour. Other survivors include three daughters, Debra Mitchell and Lydia Bailey, both of Greenwood, and Sharon Hillen, West Alexandria, Ohio; two sons, Brent Bailey, Butlerville, and Mark Bailey, Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; four sisters, Irene Browning, Castile, N.Y., Betty Sue LaDelpha, Florida, Margaret Goodenow, Wyoming, N.Y., and Sharon Keaton, New York; and four brothers, James and Frank Bailey Jr., Florida, Isaac Bailey, Scipio, and Cornelius Bailey, Lafayette, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rhoda May Warren, and three brothers, J.L., Eugene and Warren Bailey. The Rev. Frank Holt will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at Pickett Funeral Home, North Vernon. Military graveside rites will be at Cana Cemetery, Uniontown. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana, Inpatient Facility.
