CROTHERSVILLE SOLDIER DEAD IN SOUTH CAROLINA

Leslie Mount, Son of Mr. and Mrs. George Mount, Succumbs to Peritonitis.

George Mount, a prominent Crothersville resident received a message Thursday announcing the death of his son, Leslie Mount, South Carolina, where the lad was stationed with the United States Marine corps. Mr. and Mrs. Mount left immediately for South Carolina and will bring the body to Crothersville for burial.

According to the information accompanying the message Young Mount's death was due to an attack of appendicitis which later developed into peritonitis. The direct cause of his death is believed to have been due to vaccination which developed into appendicitis.

The deceased, who is only 16 years old, left Crothersville December 15, in company with Foster Huff and Fred Waters, to join the U.S. Marine Corps. The young man was very popular in his home town and the news of his death came as a shock to his many friends there.

Besides the bereaved parents, on brother, Will Mount, together with several relatives and many friends survive. The funeral arrangements will not have been completed until Mr. and Mrs. Mount, who have gone to return the body, are heard from.

FUNERAL OF LESLIE MOUNT TO BE CONDUCTED TUESDAY

Body of U.S. Marine, Who Died at Paris Island, S.C., Returned to Crothersville.

The body of Leslie Mount, aged sixteen years, a United States Marine, who died Thursday of Peritonitis at Paris Island, S.C., where he was in training, arrived at Crothersville this morning for burial. The funeral will be held from the Methodist church there at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, the Rev. Mr. Hendricks, the pastor, officiating. The lad was popular at Crothersville where he lived until the time of his enlistment.

Mr. and Mrs. George Mount, parents of the boy, were notified Wednesday of their son's illness and left immediately for Paris Island. When they reached Atlanta, they were informed of his death and that the body would be returned to Crothersville. Mr. and Mrs. Mount then returned home.
