Seymour Youth Killed In England April 21, His Mother Informed By War Department
Sgt. Donald L. Moore, age nineteen, of this city, was killed in action in England on jApril 21, according to word received by his mother, Mrs. Maqe Moore, 720 Hustedt street, from the war department.
Sgt. Moore was the only son of Emery Moore, of Salina, Ohio, and Mae Moore, of this city, with whom he made his home.
Born in Seymour on New Year's Day, January 1, 1925 he attended the city schools and Shields High School. Prior to entering the service, he was employed at the Seymour plant of Noblitt-Sparks Industries, Inc.

Sgt. Moore entered the armed forces on March 25, 1943, taking his basic training at Miami, Florida. He later received his wings as an aerial gunner at Lowry Field, Denver, Colo., and served in that capacity on a B-24 bomber. He arrived in England in March, 1944.
Sgt. Moore possessed a cheerful and sunny disposition and was well liked by all who knew him. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Seymour.
Mrs. Moore received the wire telling of her son's death while at work at the Schawe-Gerwin plant here Wednesday and was prostrated with grief by the news.

Sgt. Donald L. Moore, age nineteen, of this city, is the last Jackson county youth reported killed in action. His mother, Mrs. Mae Moore, received word from the war department May 3 that he had given his life in England April 21. He was an aerial gunner on a B-24 bomber.

Services Planned For Sgt. Moore
Memorial services for Sergeant Donald L. Moore, age nineteen, an aerial gunner who was killed in action in England on April 21, are to be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Franklin M. Moore, pastor in charge.
Sgt. Moore was the only son of Emery Moore, of Salina, Ohio, and Mrs Mae Moore, 720 Hustedt street, with whom he made his home.
He attended Shields High School here and was employed at the Seymour plant of Noblitt-Sparks Industries, Inc., before entering the armed forces on March 25, 1943. Taking his basic training at Miami, Florida, Sgt. Moore received his wings as an aerial gunner at Lowry Field, Colorado, and served in that capacity on a B-24 bomber. He had been in England since March, 1944.
Special music has been planned for the services, and Seymour Post No. 89, American Legion, will participate.
