Hope For Safety Of Lt. Crecelius

Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Crecelius were given additional hope for the safety of their son, Lieutenant Jesse Crecelius, on Christmas Eve by the War Department. Lt. Crecelius had been reported missing several weeks ago.

The War Department message stated that anti-aircraft flak had hit the Flying Fortress which Lt. Crecelius was piloting on a raid over northern Italy. The crippled ship was able to keep up with its comrades in foration back to a certain point, but before returning to its base was forced down.

The pilot of another ship leaving the formation, circled back, and saw nine of the ship's crew leaving the bomber, which had made a water landing.

No further word has been heard from the crew of the ship, but it is hoped that they reached safety on nearby land.

Mr. and Mrs. Crecelius and their family, who are now living at Medaryville, are former Seymour residents.
