Pvt. Newton Bechtel Expires in Hospital

Pvt. Newton H. Bechtel, Lee Boulevard, died at 8:30 o'clock Friday night in Brooks General Hospital, San Antonio, Texas, according to word received here by friends from his widow, Mrs. Jennie Irene Bechtel, who was at the hospital.

The funeral party was to arrive at Hillsboro, Illinois, this morning but funeral arrangements and other particulars have not been learned.

Mr. Bechtel had been in the army hospital since last fall. A former manager of the Seymour Morris store, he and his wife later owned and operated the Puritan Cafe, selling out when he entered the service. He also worked for some time at Camp Atterbury before entering the armed forces. Many friends mourn his death.

Besides the widow, he is survived by two children, Michael and Suzanne, and the parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Bechtel, Hillsboro, Illinois, R2.
