INDIANA MAN NOW IS PLACED AMONG VICTIMS OF LUSITANIA

E. Blish Thompson First Reported Saved Apparently to Allay Family's Fear.

Hope that E. Blish Thompson of Seymour, who was a passenger on the Lusitania, was saved when the British liner was sunk off the coast of Ireland last Friday, was blasted yesterday when word was received here that Thompson had perished. Mr. Thompson, who was with her husband on the trip, was saved, according to the latest advises.

The word that Mr. Thompson had perished came last evening to John B. Cockrum, 1416 North Alabama street, who received a message saying that Thompson is among the missing. The original message, received Saturday, announced that both Mr. and Mrs. Thompson had been rescued, but the message was sent with the knowledge that Mr. Thompson was not among the survivors, but apparently with the hope that he would be found. The message that both had been saved was sent, apparently, to allay the fears of the family in Indiana.

Before starting for New York to sail for Europe, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cockrum. Oatley B. Cockrum had warned Mr. Thompson of the danger of the Lusitania being torpedoed, but he laughed at the fears and determined to sail on his business mission.

Mr. Thompson was secretary and sales manager of the Blish Milling Company of Seymour, and was going to England to look after a large contract which his company had in Holland.
