"Monroe Key, Sep 4, 1841 - Feb 16, 1932.  Born on the Key farm near Shiloh church Gibson County, moved to Patoka in 1853.  Enlisted in the Union Army Oct. 1, 1861.  He was in Co. C 58th Ind. Vols.  He attained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, mustered out of the service at Indianapolis, 1865.  He was a carpenter and contractor for a number of years.  In 1888 he was elected Sheriff of Gibson Co. serving four years.  He then moved to his farm three miles north of Princeton in 1892."
