(Most of the documents were assembled in the 1920's, but often refer to events from much earlier.  There is a tremendous amount of detail referring to proof of family relationships.)

To all to whom these presents to shall come greeting; know ye, that we the undersigned George Brownlee & Catharine Brownlee wife of the said George Brownlee of the County of Gibson in the state of Indiana, do hereby make known and declare that in the year 1818 we were seized and possessed in fee simple of the south east quarter of Section 3 in Township 3 South of Range 10 west, in the District of Lands offered for sale at Vincennes; That afterwards, to- wit; in the year 1819 or 1820 we bargained and sold, aliened , released, conveyed and confirmed by general warranty deed said land for the consideration of $300 to Samuel Shannon his heirs and assigns forever. Witnessed by J. McCoy and John Brownlee July 17, 1838 recorded in Deed Record L page 343
