(Most of the documents were assembled in the 1920's, but often refer to events from much earlier.  There is a tremendous amount of detail referring to proof of family relationships.)

The subscriber hereto being first duly sworn on his oath deposes and says, that he was personally acquainted with Melvina Brown and Clinton Brown, to whom on the 18th day of February 1865, David Goodnight and wife conveyed lot # 50, in the Columbia Division, town of Patoka, in Gibson County, Indiana, and he knows that said Melvina Brown departed this life on or about the 16th day of January 1888 and that the said Clinton Brown departed this life, in testate on or about the 16th day of August 1887 leaving him surviving his only heirs at law, his widow Olive Brown, and his 4 children, namely William Brown, Mabel Brown, Arthur Brown and Charles Brown. Affiant further says that the said William Brown departed this life, in testate on or about the 9th day of April 1900 leaving him surviving his only heirs at law, his widow Fannie Brown and his 2 children Clinton Brown and Grace Brown and that the said widow Fannie Brown has since died, but as to the date of her death affiant does not know. Affiant further says that the said Mabel Brown departed this life on or about the 9th day of April 1910 leaving her surviving no husband, no child or children. Signed Clinton Brown.
