(Most of the documents were assembled in the 1920's, but often refer to events from much earlier.  There is a tremendous amount of detail referring to proof of family relationships.)

Milton A. Simpson, being duly sworn on his oath says, that he knew Daniel Fiering, who for some years prior to his death in 1869 was in possession of SW 1/4 of Sec. 35 in Township 3 South of Range 9 west in Gibson County Indiana, and he knew the wife of said Daniel Fiering, who continued to occupy said lands until her conveyance of the south half thereof to Margaret Seiber; that he does not the correct spelling of the name Seiber but he knows it was pronounced as though it was spelled Seaber; that said Margaret Seiber had possession of south half until the same passed to Joseph Yuchert about 1879; that affiant does not know the name of wife of said Daniel Fiering except that the Germans in the neighborhood called her Katrina; affiant says that he was acquainted with John Featherstone who was a cousin of William Featherstone.
