Cato Powell a man of color, being first duly sworn on his oath deposes and says, that he was personally acquainted with Sarah Mitchell , who on the 25th day of June 1878, executed a deed of conveyance to Lucinda Thornton for the south west part of Lot # 16, in the Original Plan of the Town of Princeton, in Gibson County, and he positively knows that at the time of executing said deed of conveyance the said Sarah Mitchell was a widow and had no living husband to join with her in said conveyance. Affiant further says that he was personally acquainted with Lucinda Thornton who on the 19th day of August 1879, executed a deed of conveyance to Carrie Burton for above described part of Lot, and he knows that at the time of executing said deed of conveyance the said Lucinda Thornton was a widow and had no living husband to join with her in said conveyance, the said Lucinda Thornton was my sister and I know whereof I speak. Signed by Cato Powell and witnessed by Harry C. Morrison, Subscribed and sworn to before me on this 11th day of December 1923 signed Charles W. Benton, Notary Public
