Keith Michael Maurer, 67, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away March 22, 2019 at 11:07 a.m. at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, from Leukemia.

He was born August 12, 1951, to William “Bill” and Lillian Maurer in Haubstadt, IN. 

He was married on June 1, 1974, to Karen Helfrich of Haubstadt. Keith worked 30 years at Old Ben Coal Mine, and worked for Starnes Trucking. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Haubstadt, IN. Keith loved family, friends, cold beer, long conversation, and playing Clabber. He was, and always will be, an avid fan of Notre Dame football and Los Angeles Dodgers baseball. He loved being a grandpa to Kenzi, Lexi, Maddux, Lyla, Madden, and Demi. 

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen (Helfrich) Maurer; his daughters, Laci (Chad) Potts, Bridget Maurer, Noelle (Aaron) Scott; mother, Lillian Maurer; siblings, Tom (Donna) Maurer, Terry (JoAnn) Maurer, Jane Ann (Rodger) Cox, Susan (Larry) Schmitt, Dennis Schmitt, Alice (Fred) Blankenberger, Julie Maurer, Kelly (Amy) Maurer, Kent (Erin) Maurer, Traci (Scott) Lewis, and Julie (Tim) Rexing. 

Keith was preceded in death by his father William “Bill” Maurer; brother, Kevin Maurer; sister, Peggy Schmitt; sister-in-law, Kelle (Rexing) Maurer; niece Tessa Maurer; father-in-law, Ed “Mups” Helfrich. 

Visitation will be held at the Sts. Peter and Paul Family Life Center on Friday, March 29th from 3:00-8:00 p.m., and Saturday, March 30th, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Mass will begin, Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with burial immediately following in the church cemetery.
