Sarah Mae
Hoffman, 83 died Saturday, March 30, 2019, at North River Senior Living Campus
in Evansville following a long illness.
She was born
March 25, 1936 in Elberfeld IN, where she grew up and graduated from High
School in 1954.
Sara Mae
married Melvin (Bud) Hoffman of Haubstadt IN, on November 13, 1954. They moved
to Iowa City, Iowa, where they lived for 45 years.
She was a
member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Iowa City. She retired in 1994 after
33 years of service at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City,
Iowa. Sarah Mae loved spending time with family, her dogs, and trips to the
Oregon Coast.
She was
preceded in death by her husband Melvin, father and mother, William and Lilly
(Green) Lockhart and 1 sister, Clarice Ann Williams.
She is
survived by her two sons; William Hoffman (Terry) of Ely, IA; Michael Hoffman
(Lorie); three granddaughters; Monica, Gwendolyn, and Kia; and one grandson,
Michael; three Sisters, Peggy Roos (Buddy) of Evansville, Marilyn McMurtry (Scott) of Evansville; and Carolyn Shaffer (Larry)
of Lawrenceville, IL.
A Mass of
Christian burial will be Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 11:00 am, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, burial to
follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 AM
Wednesday at the church.
