Carlos M. “Sam” Kell, 80 of Oakland City entered rest on Wednesday Sept. 19, 2018 at Linda White Hospice in Evansville, IN.
Sam was born on May 30, 1938 in Oakland City to Raymond & Esther (Houchins) Kell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim, Raymond, Edwin, John, Louis, Fred and sisters Dora Anthony, Amy Tschappler, wife Donna (Skelton) Kell in 2014 and son Carl Kell in 2015.
Before Sam retired as a coal miner he had worked at Ayrco and Ayrshire Amax Coal Mines and was a member of U.MW.A and Local 5179. And was a member of I.K.I Woodturners Association. He attended Forsythe United Methodist Church. He loved humming birds, gardening, wood turning, playing the piano and he especially loved his family greatly.
Survived by his children, Elaine (Dennis) Young, Ellen (Jeff) Morgan and Chad Kell all of Oakland City, IN. (9) Grandchildren (18) Great Grandchildren. Sisters: Aline (Miguel) Taitana of San Antonio, Texas and Lena (Glen) Boswell of Harrison, Arkansas
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday Sept. 22, 2018 at the Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel with burial in Forsythe Cemetery. Rev Kristi Calhoun will be officiating, Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and from 8:00 A.M. until services on Saturday at the chapel.
