Doris Jean Campbell, 85 of Oakland City, left this life for a joyous reunion in her heavenly home with her Savior, family members and friends on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. She was residing at the River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton.
She was born August 28, 1933 in Evansville to Norman and Thelma (Grimmwood) Besing.
Doris graduated from Mackey High School and retired from Hansen Manufacturing in Princeton. Doris was a faithful servant of the Lord and a member of St. John’s Church in Buckskin, always serving her church in any capacity that was needed.
Doris, who never met a stranger, loved to travel. She was fortunate enough to be able to make many fond memories traveling with her children and grandchildren though the years. As much as she loved to travel, her favorite pastime was attending her grandchildren’s sporting events throughout the years. If they were playing, she was in the stands or sitting on the sideline wearing the school’s colors, with the team’s name and grandchild’s number proudly displayed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Campbell; daughters, Theresa Campbell and Lisa Maikranz; brothers, Donald and Jerry Besing; and sister, Norma Wallace.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Vicky Campbell; son-in-law Brian Maikranz; grandsons, Bryson Maikranz (Rachel) and Braydon Maikranz (Devin); granddaughter, Brenna Maikranz; great granddaughter, Braylee; great grandson, Everett; brothers, Larry Besing and Jimmy Besing (Beverly); and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the St John’s Church of Buckskin with Rev. Matt Malin officiating. Burial with follow in the St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 pm Friday at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City and from 9 a.m. until service on Saturday at the church. Corn-Colvin Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements for Doris.
