Evelyn Joyce McClellan, 88, of Owensville, Indiana passed away peacefully August 13, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born September 9, 1929 in Mt. Carmel, IL to the late Charles E. and Mary Bethyl (Griess) Armstrong.
She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School, class of 1946. Joyce married Donald Winfred McClellan on January 23, 1948.
Joyce will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, Grandma
Joyce and great grandma. Joyce faithfully served Christ for 68 years as a
member of the Byrns Church until South Gibson
Apostolic Church was founded and built upon land donated by Joyce and her late
husband Don. She served her community and church for many years as a Girl Scout
leader, Sunday School Teacher, and taught many people to play the piano.
Hobbies and interests included gardening, sewing, crocheting, and playing the
piano. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her ability to make all feel
welcomed like family.
She is survived by her children Thomas (Debra) McClellan, Robert (Fred)
McClellan, Brenda (Sue) Curl, Donald (Kimberly) McClellan, and Chris (Stacy)
McClellan; siblings Joan Hensley and Michael (Margaret) Armstrong;
grandchildren Brian McClellan, Valerie McClellan, Lori (Darin) Hupp, Heather (Jason)
Thomas, Stephanie (Tim) Kruse, Shannon (Josh) Kohlmeyer,
Zach (Jennifer) McClellan, Kayla (Robert) Goad, Joshua McClellan, and Brogan
McClellan; 14 great grandchildren; and 3 great great
grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Charles E. and Bethyl
Armstrong; husband Donald W. McClellan; brother Robert Armstrong; son Rodney
Lee McClellan; son in law Allen Curl; and grandson Colin McClellan.
Holder’s Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care
of Mrs. McClellan.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Holders Funeral Home from
3p.m.- 8p.m. and Thursday 9a.m. at the Church until service time. Funeral will
be Thursday August 16, 2018 10a.m at South Gibson Apostolic Church in
Owensville, IN with Pastors Freels and Davis
officiating. Interment will be held at Maumee Cemetery.
