Larry Allen Skelton, 48 of Oakland City passed away Monday, July 9, 2018.
He was born December 6, 1969 in Princeton, to Gary Wayne and Hazel (Scott) Dorris Sr.
He was a Safety and Compliance Manager for Road & Rail Services in Princeton.Larry had lived in Oakland City most of his life. He graduated from Wood Memorial High School in 1989. He served in the U.S. Army for 18 years. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 2714 in Fort Branch and American Legion Post 256 in Oakland City. He enjoyed his guns, driving in the country, eating and drinking coffee and especially being with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Shawn of Oakland City; mother, Hazel Skelton of Somerville; Father, Gary Dorris Sr. (Faye) of Princeton; children, Ashley Dorris (Gage Gardner) of Brilliant Ohio, Larry Allen Dorris Jr. (Brittany Shon Lewis) of Princeton, Jamie Lee (Dorris) Brackney (Michael) of Haubstadt, Keyona Bement-Aita, Colton Camden, Ashley Camden, Matthew Riley all of Oakland City, Robbie Hamilton (Mary) of Francisco; 2 brothers, Tony Dorris of Princeton and James Dorris of Texas; sister, Melissa Dorris of Princeton; 11 grandchildren, Chloe, Karson, Lexie, Brayden, Naomi, Athena, Evan, Haley, Hannah, Kenna and Zoey.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Raymond Lee Skelton aka “Pops” and a brother Gary Wayne Dorris Jr.
At 2 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City. There will be a military service by Oakland City American Legion Post 256, followed by a Celebration of Life service with Dr. Bob Doane officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home.
